The Best of Times........and The Worst of Times (L

Our high street on a very wet / snowy Saturday morning.

A farmers' market is sometimes allowed to trade in the high street. The weather conditions today probably chased many folks away - there was certainly not much being bought. The shop behind the cheese stall in the photo is closing down after many years of trading. Perhaps the worst of times for that shop. Its not alone.

I do wonder whether the best ot times might yet lie ahead for the farmers' market - small stalls with no bricks and mortar shop overheads or expensive rates; where sales rise or fall on the quality of the product and the quality of the sales-person; and competitively priced to attract increasingly cost/value-conscious and austerity-buffeted shoppers.

Hard yards ahead?
