Chippenham Station

Called in today at Chippenham railway station. At seven miles away by road, it is the nearest station to my home in Calne, but at one time there was a branch line from Chippenham to Calne. The terminus at Calne had seven sidings and originally its own engine shed. It closed as part of Lord Beeching's act in 1965, and the single track line has now become a five mile cycleway, passing through Stanley and Black Dog.
