northern pintail (anas acuta)

this most elegant of dabbling ducks is shy and rarely seen in these parts,but we got him today alright. we see 'him' here standing on watery ice in a lagoon off humber bay at the edge of a solid ice floe, whose greenish edge is visible at the top of the foto.
