voodoo run

i miss the guy in the caveman outfit who ran along the river
dreadlocks to his waist,
chattering about cage fighting,
pink sink stored safely at home.

the 18 marathons were left behind on earth

we wear him on our wrists now
as a reminder
life is not a warm up.
