I'll huff and I'll puff

Today the weather cleared and the wind dropped giving us pretty decent skiing in the Pays Desert and Col Pers. Yesterday's wind hadn't completely trashed the snow so there was an adequate supply of wind-compressed powder for us to enjoy.

On the walk up to the Grand Torsai I spotted a small cluster of ice towers, about 6 inches high. They reminded me of coral growths. How are they formed? The wind does strange things.

At 5pm the wind was strong in town, so no doubt it's blowing a gale up high. More bad weather is forecast in the next few days, and hopefully that will mean some snow too.
