Census - 2011

Every 10 years, a census is carried out in the UK. It's funny but I can remember doing the last one in 2001 but can't remember doing the 1981 or the 1991 questionnaire. Hopefully that's not a sign of dementia kicking in!

This one has 28 pages but that can accommodate a 5 person household, still it's a lot of filling in of questions. It has to be done on or around Sunday 27 March and there is a legal duty to do so!!

I did a family history search a few years ago and the census forms from the late 1800s had very few questions. I can remember being amazed by one of the questions which was asked was whether any of the occupants were 1. Blind 2. Deaf or Dumb 3. Imbecile or Idiot or 4. A Lunatic. They didn't mince their words in those days!!!

Of course no-one in my family had any of these inflictions:)
