Scraffito

I'm not really happy with today's photo, I've taken 3 different subjects & I think this is the best of a bad lot.

This is the scraffito pattern on a dish I made in pottery. I used terracotta clay & put a layer of brown slip over the top. The following week, when the piece isn't quite dry, I scratched the pattern through to reveal the clay underneath. This technique is called scraffito.
