Today we started one of the big fire skills units: SCBA Search & Rescue. In a special floor of the training centre, there is the "Pig Pen". The pig pen allows our training officers to set up house floor plans at will. Our responsibility as keen young firefighters is to conduct blind searches of each layout, find victims, extract them, and clear the structure.

No small effort as sight is completely unavailable. This is one skill that I am most concerned about, but it is skillfully taught by superlative teachers. Gets more complicated tomorrow... We have to be able to help downed firefighters, which is a critical additional skill set. Wah-hoo!
