Oh, Henry
This is Henry Fawcett, the man who invented the tap.
Actually that is a really bad pun and I wish I'd not written it. He was actually a blind statesman who was very much behind the women's suffragette movement in Britain. He was also a leading voice in the acceptance of Darwin's The Origin of Species.
This is a memorial to him in Victoria Embankment Gardens. Oddly enough, it is a water fountain. Perhaps this is an ironic joke, maybe it just points up the Victorian love of dedicating water fountains to the great, good and not so good.
I was a bit undecided today for my choice of blip (just like yesterday) because I visited the Florence Nightingale Museum and discovered that she had a big nose. I think these little quirks of nature make people far more interesting. Here's the shot of Florence I almost used: Florence Nightingale
