all's well that ends well
Our day began at 6 again today but I'm getting used to it! We were up and I knew almost right away that it was going to be one of those days. Sigh. Anyway we plodded on and got to half nine when I decided enough was enough and Amelie was having an early nap. So she had half an hour sleep which didn't sort her out and she ended up with nurofen again and also some anbesol on her gums. She is one very miserable baby. After lunch we put her down for another nap and that too was 30 minutes. When she woke up she was quite disgruntled and I offered her some milk and that set her off into complete hysteria. She screamed for about 40 minutes and nothing would calm her down. If we spoke to her we just made it worse so had to pretty much just sit with her on the floor and hope that it was going to end soon. 40 minutes and two headaches later, Chris took her into her room and into the tent and she calmed down. One Mummy crawling along the tunnel later and she was laughing. Eventually she seemed better than she had done all day and stayed in her room to play until dinner time. At dinner she managed to feed herself with the spoon entirely, I was one very impressed Mummy! She had a quick bath on her own after dinner which was a bit of a shock to her seeing as I always bath with her. She tried to climb out but eventually realised it was quite fun in there by herself and she had lots of room to splash. Because of her teeth, she has a current attatchment to her toothbrush which I suppose is no bad thing.
Chris' old housemate Charlotte popped round for a cup of tea and to drop in Amelie's birthday present and as soon as she arrived Amelie began her performance. She had her Pjs and dressing gown on and was completely showing off for the 2 hours that Charlotte was there! She was doing her fake sneezes (without being asked to!) and playing peekaboo behind the coffee table which she has never done before! She was saying hello and then she said Bye when Charlotte went to go and get her shoes and she was doing some rather impressive dancing to the Night Garden music. I was absolutely amazed after the day we'd had. But very pleased.
And now its time for a glass of wine.
