Priest's Leap
Today I walked in place called Priest's Leap. It gets name from the story of a Roman Catholic priest who is alleged to have leaped on horse back from one hill to another to escape arrest in pre-famine times. It was a time when it was illegal to be Roman Catholic and priests organised masses in remote places behind rocks etc, always trying to evade capture. The guide book said that the horse shoe marks are imprinted on the rock still...
Anyway, I celebrated St Patrick's day with this glorious walk, I turned off the road up a boggy path and reached the summit, Knockboy. I enjoyed views of Kerry and west Cork, seeing the headlands of 4 peninsulas!
16 km walk in total.. Phew! Time for a glass of wine:-)
