Two lovers seen beside the River Kent in Kendal. You can't help but feel sorry for the mallard ducks in the breeding season, there always seems to be more males than females, and the action gets very physical. Ducks have been known to be drowned through the violent attentions of too many males. This duck is one of the lucky ones, the drake was jealously and proudly defending her against all-comers.
