Reptile?

I thought this photo looked as if it could be a reptile or insect but is actually a stalk of bamboo that lives in my kitchen! It was included in a bunch of flowers i received over a year ago but the bamboo seems to be thriving in a vase of water - at last a plant (if you can call it that) that i've managed to keep alive!!
