The Rebel Sweeties

This is an blast from the past for my dear friend Sweetie!

This is a flyer and a ticket for the band we were in when we were seventeen together.

One of the guitarists (Sweetie was the Rythym and vocals!) at the time, Victoria, made these. She was a unique individual to say the least.

The ticket on the left has a picture of her and her twin sister on it. She grew up to be nothing like her twin. Twin Vic (don't remember her name) was a girly girl. All about looks and perceptions.
Victoria ran around in ripped jeans, was a bit overweight, dyed her hair pinks and purples (back when that wasn't in vogue) and was starting to become the kickstart your own hairdryer and roll your own tampons lesbian we came to know and love.
She also had to give mouth to mouth to her mum on boxing day as she died of something that she would have survived had there been any doctors willing to come out at that time of year or faster ambulances.
We don't keep in touch. She went off on her own big time. I bumped into her once about five years ago. She's ok. Leather jacket, heavy and short, spiked short hair... she's great though!

Vic wrote the sprawling sentence on the flyer at the back of the ticket. I have covered it up a bit as its really quite mental and I feel it may be too much for some people.
As it is the jobby bit will have my Mum squealing (she hates that word).

I will always keep this ticket and this flyer. The Rebel Sweeties were a thing of legend in the late nineties in Glasgow. An all girl band doing riot grrrl metal and kickin ass!
