Had a busy last few days so decided to relax today. Had the house to myself last night and for most of today. It was peaceful. Went to the beach in the afternoon. I don't share the widespread belief that the beach is at its best on a hot day. Evidently. It is at its most beautiful on a miserable day. It's a good time to think. There's no one else there. Just you and the crashing waves. A beautiful melancholy really.
