stoop

Stoopball is the street version of baseball, requiring no expensive or cumbersome equipment and designed to make use of city "stoops," or the front steps that grace the entrance of brownstones and tenement buildings. Similar to baseball, this game's bat is the inanimate step.

Things you'll need:
Staircase or "stoop"
Rubber ball or tennis ball

1. To begin, the "batter" in this game throws a fast ball at the edge of the stoop, or steps.

2. The "fielders" attempt to catch the ball before it bounces, or "on the fly." If this happens, the batter is out and another is up.

3. For each time the ball bounces before it is caught, the batter scores a base: first, second, third and home run.
