Kookaburra.

Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree.
Merry merry king of the bush is he.
Laugh Kookaburra, laugh Kookaburra,

My daughter learned this song at school a few weeks ago when her topic was 'Australia' and managed to teach her little brother to sing it with her as a round - usually very loudly while I was trying to drive.

So, they were very impressed when we saw this Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) at the park in Crawley today (not the first place you'd think to look!). It didn't look very happy though, stuck in a cage, and certainly wasn't laughing - but it was pretty nosey!
