Hide Away Folk Family

Pretzel logic

At this time of year in the town there is a tradition of leaving pretzels in trees.

It traces its roots back to GIs who lived in the town in WWII and created treasure hunts for the town's children in the spring with these popular US snacks making up the trail through the woods.

We think it's unique in England, but gather there is a similar tradition in some of the Appalachian mountains, but haven't been able to trace them properly.

(Some joker has left a 'hula hoop' here too - which we suppose is quite witty given their American origins.)

Anyway, we like the way the pretzels echo the twigs and branches and are reflected in the pond behind.
