Everybody Hurts
Hitting the wall hill hard in the Alloa half marathon.
10 miles into the 13 mile race and the runners have to contend with 'Menstrie Brae' here, a fairly steep half mile lung busting climb that sorts out the men/women from the boys/girls. I was well impressed when all the runners that passed us were still running at the top of the brae and that only one poor guy pegged out after tackling it. He was up and off again a minute or two later though.
There's some really pained expressions on those faces.
We stopped here to try and get a photo of our niece as she was taking part in the event this year. I would've posted the shot of her too but she sneaked up in the midst of a big pack and was almost past before I noticed her so didn't get a great shot in. She looked fresh as a daisy though even after this painful section of the route and posted a personal best time of 1hr 56mins. Well done VJ, you did yourself and everyone else proud (and I was only kidding about entering next year. x).
Feeling pretty exhausted after watching all those hundreds of athletes sweating and straining so back home now for some DFS sponsored sport (that's the only type I'm good at nowadays).
