LL Cool Jim

Bottled crisps

Finally got to the podiatrist this morning. I felt a bit guilty sat in the waiting room along with all those elderly folk with some seriously bad leg/foot problems and here's me with some slight, sports-related, overpronation of the feet.

Only the NHS would stick the podiatrist clinic on the top floor of the building (Inchkeith House, Leith Walk). I hope for the sakes of the oldies with goose-feet that there's an elevator in the building.

Anyway, my consultation went really well and I was really quite interested in all the mechanics of the bones, muscles, flesh and in-steps of my feet. And then there's the distance between my toes, the rolling of the feet as I walked, somes toes pointing down, some up etc. Never bothered to look before.

The level of knowledge displayed by the podiatrist was very impressive even if the exercises I've to carry out on a daily basis now make me look a right tit (one includes standing on one foot and wobbling about with my eyes closed).

The most amusing thing about the half-hour consultation was the shameless flirting of the podiatrist.
Nice laddie though. He seemed to be blushing a lot. When he closed the curtain and asked me to turn around, stand on one foot, wobble about and close my eyes ("this won't hurt") I did start to think he was just making this shit up but, at the end, he gave me the diagrams with the instructions on them and sure enough - "stand on one foot and balance. If this is too easy close your eyes" (copyright of PhysioTools Ltd). This will help gain strength in the tibialis.

In other shellshocking news - the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh have hooked this up - and I'm only oot the bleedin country both nights! Goddamit. What a coup though.

So I'll be missing out on some:

tuned-in lyrics (love the cartoon vid),

French hip hop? (le bien),

tuneful chicks (no time)

maybe even legend chicks (Trust me - ahh, N'dea)

and

laid back Jazzmatazz (Guru loungin in the Voodoo Rooms - cannae believe it - 15 years since he started the movement).

Boohoo!!

Footnote

This is not a silver lining but when your very own LLCoolJim is in Sydney on the 22nd March guess who's also in the Oz town that night playing a gig?......only Mr LLCoolJ himself - ok so maybe he ain't so cool after all but any man who invented the stage name Ladies Love Cool James will always have a place in my heart.
