At this stage in March you still have to look for signs of spring - they are not yet bursting in your face. Last night I noticed that the long hanging buds on the flowering cherry at the back of the house were starting to open. This afternoon some of them were showing pink - not enough to make a riot, but certainly a modest statement of intent !
