crystal fighters

So I went to a gig last night, to see Crystal Fighters at The Captain's Rest, Glasgow.

'The Captain's Rest is a vibrant new music venue'; this is a line I found on their website, but should be replaced with: 'The Captain's Rest is a shitey old man's pub where you can watch football, scratch your arse without shame, and maybe if you go down to the basement there'll be a band playing, in a crappy little room, with no bar. You also can expect to be waiting a total of 1 hour and 45 mins for the bands to come on, and you'll be locked out of the venue should you wish to take a cigarette break.'

It also claims on their website to be, 'supplying worldwide touring bands and local bands alike, with the stage they require.' In fact, the stage was inadequate, as was the security, as proved at the end of the gig when certain members of the crowd proceeded onto the stage and began to handle/rob all the band's equipment. Not cool.

The band was actually excellent, and that was so the wrong venue for them, but I got a nice bit of vinyl out of it...
