Dunnotar Castle

We decided today seeing as it was a lovely day (if a bit windy on the beach!) to go to Dunnotar castle. We headed down the side and along some pretty hairy cliff edges to get to the bay. The stones were stunning, the kids had a great time collecting coloured ones as well as viewing seagull skeletons, crabs that had been washed up and learning to skim flat stones. Aside from 2 couples walking along, we had this part to ourselves where the other side of the castle was really busy. It was a good call! Once we hiked back to the top (level with the castle) we decided to head into Stonehaven for ice cream at Aunty Betty's. All the locals will be familiar with this!

I took about 300 shots today, choosing just one wasn't easy. Some, like this one were from the beach, some had kids in, some were from the cliffs at the same height as the castle and I liked lots of them.

One thing I've struggled with however was the horizon. The problem is that there was only a small part on the left. It was in fact straight on the shots, even when I checked in photoshop. However, the curve of the bay I was standing in was really obvious and I found myself tipping my head slightly to look at the photos, as it they were squint. So after a lot of debating I've straightened this one.

Would be interested to know what other more experienced people do when you know the shot it correctly lined up, but something in view makes it look all wrong?
