The M8 motorway was the first motorway in the UK to cut through the centre of a city. Mainly because of the damage it caused, it was also the last. It is weird going across a bridge to view this experiment that failed, yet is a vital part of the roads system in the city. Makes me wonder how the M74 extension is going to be viewed in the future.
