Day One

I wasn't looking forward to my first flight in 23 years but with a friend in tow and a whole week of astronomy (and no cooking, cleaning or school runs) I approached the experience with an open mind. The initial whooshing as the plane lifted off gave me twinges of anxiety but soon enough I was actually enjoying it and rather than ignoring the windows in the periphery I was positively astonished by the ever distant view of the ground below. Landing in Majorca I felt the heat as soon as I stepped out of the plane, excited to be in another country and full of anticipation of the week I had yet to come.
