What's in a name?

I would have liked to have done an outdoor blip today...the weather isn't great, but still, nothing better than a walk with your camera is there? However, what with 2 seminars, a tutorial, lots of reading, dissertation proposal to sort etc...there is just no time today - the only walking I'll be doing is here, there and everywhere, but in a rush to get places! This evening it is the belly dancing dress rehearsal before the big performance on Friday...eeek!

These are the wooden letters I have in my room, spelling my name. So...what's in a name? Surely if we change the names of things, the things themselves never actually change...not in function, nor characteristics, nor personality...
