The German Hospital, Hackney England

The German Hospital (1845 - 1987) was built on the site of the former Dalston Infant Orphan Asylum on Dalston Lane in Hackney East London. It was for German immigrants and staffed by German nurses although local people (non-Germans) could use the hospital in an emergency.
After the outbreak of the Second World War, staff at the hospital were arrested and sent to be confined on the Isle of Man!!
In 1987 the German Hospital closed its doors.
