Lunacy

Capturing the "Supermoon" event - rather more of a challenge than I thought. Started with the intention of a bit of tree and illuminated light cloud but moon excessively bright with no definition. Manual reduction of shutter speed to 1/4000 second got the detail here (and cropped to a jaunty angle).

Anyone any suggestions as to how to capture sharp moon detail and peripheral ground/cloud features without resorting to layers?

Would be grateful for any suggestions...ta
