yyc tower
If you look carefully - the flame on the yyc tower is alight - and the reason was to celebrate Shell's 100 years in Canada. Gloriously nonPC! The other bit of trivia is that the building in the foreground is the Paliser Hotel - formerly a CP (Canadian Pacific) hotel. During the war a one of the most famous mosquitos - F-Freddy with 213 operations (on a publicity tour / bond drive) flew up 9th ave below the height of the hotel! Unfortunately the bits of it are in the aircraft museum - the day after it was due to fly to YEG and on one of the low passes the wing clipped the balloon launch pole on the control tower. Reading between the lines - the highly decorated crew probably didn't buy a drink all night........ (of course it was the tallest building at the time...)
