Blue as Blue...
Ptilonorhynclus violaceus ...
This is a female Satin Bowerbird...with the bluest eyes...(the male I hope to show one of these days)...completely amazing and very interesting.
Young males and females are similar in colour and collectively called 'green' birds...
The way to tell the difference between the two,is the male has a pale blue beak,the female dark brown....
Males are solitary...At the age of 5 they begin to change colour,and by the age of 7,are a deep satin ultramarine blue/black,with a purple eye...Females travel in largeish flocks.
