My Daily

India Towards progress....

I was on my way to the office, walking down from metro to the office campus. There are a couple of dhabaas(roadside food joints), small tea stalls, juice corners and snacks thelas (stalls on trolley).

There is also one cobbler at the corner of the, road with these kids and his wife works at the tea stalls. In such a situation, it was impossible for me to think that their kids would be going to school also.

Today morning, I saw them STUDYING. Specially for the girls, its a rare site to see a girl child of a roadside cobbler, with notebooks in her hands. I stood there.. astonished, for a while... with a biiiiiggg smile on my face. I did not want to lose this moment. I asked them "bachcho mai apki ek photo lelu?" (kids, may I take a pic of yours?). They gave me their lovely smiles and said Yes..

While I was taking out my camera, their father said to them "beta achhe se baithna, theek se padho" (kids, sit nicely and read properly). When I took the picture, I said "Thank you",, to which they replied "belcome" (welcome).

This just made my day!! To have poor people, sending their children to schools, out of the meager income they get.... I don't think I would want to call them poor..
