BREWERY

ILKLEY BREWERY remains, close to the railway station, are under threat as Tesco have been given permission to build a new superstore on the site of Spooner's factory on Railway Road. At the moment brewery tower still stands, but now with broken windows, and the painted Ilkley Brewery sign is now very faded.
The business was established in 1873 as The Ilkley Brewery & Aerated Water Co. Ltd; in 1923 Hammond's Bradford Brewery Co. Ltd; bought the business which then owned 37 pubs.
