Day Of The Diva

New Beginnings!

This morning I took Zebedee (my son who is almost 11) to see his Secondary School, we have already looked around it once when we were deciding where he would go, luckily for us we got our first choice! We went with his best friend Reece and parents Clive and Martina. It was a totally different experience looking around knowing that this will be their school, really quite emotional - for Martina and I anyway! ;-) It's a big step but the boys seem ready for it, the school has a happy relaxed atmosphere and a great teaching method which will really suit Zebedee, it's all about who you want to be and what you need to do to get there and working at your own pace through levels 1-35, which means that subjects a child has trouble with they will be able to do thoroughly until they understand and subjects they are better at they can zoom ahead in, they also have an online facility for Parents, Teachers and Pupils to keep abreast of everything, like a home school diary, a great idea as
I won't have very much actual contact with the staff and school as Z will be making his own way there and back, I was actually worrying about this so i am really pleased. They have specialist Performing Arts funding so they have a lovely Theatre, a recording studio and lots of instruments and rehearsal rooms which the kids can use for their own bands to rehearse in! Zebedee plays drums and sings so this really appeals to him! He also enjoys acting and dancing so this is all fab! They are rebuilding two thirds of the school over the next 2 years and adding great outdoor areas and making the whole thing more modern, light and open, a shame in a way as the older ares of the school which was built in 1936 will disappear and they do hold a certain charm and history but c'est la vie! Progress!!!
Anyway Zebedee is really happy about it and that's really all that matters!!
I took this shot of these Steady hand games, also known as Buzz wire games that year 7 have been making, the year 7 children Oliver and Tilly who showed us round were very proud of them, I think they're great!
