Great save !

Down at Peffermill this afternoon for Edinburgh Uni v Grange. Despite probably having the better of the game, the Uni lost out to a late goal. Some controversy whether the scorer was inside the dee or not when they took their shot, but the umpire said, 'goal' so that was it. It's strange how different hockey now is compared to the way it used to be when I used to play every week for Inveresk. Partly it's the surface - water-damped astro is very different from blaes (aka gravel) and grass - and partly it's the rules. Biggest change for me is the end of the ban on turning - was always the hardest thing for me coming from football, where you needed to shield the ball from defenders. And offside has gone completely - how good would that have been in my days as a forward !
