Bob Cotton

It has been an absolute pleasure to have Bob and Mary staying this weekend. I met Bob twenty-three years ago when he helped us to plan a possible interactive version of the 'Total Recall - the History of Roxy Music', a documentary I was producing at the time with his great friend, Fletch.

Bob had the first Apple computer I had seen in the Art department of a college where he was the lead lecturer in interactive media. He has been very active as such in many other places ever since, and a great teacher as well as exponent.

DailyKeith came to visit today as well and we all went together to my local, the Crown and Sceptre, for a pint. Between us we had five cameras and a lot of discussion was had. Bob had been to a conference in Bristol yesterday on the future of Documentary in an interactive media world, which is the sort off thing I would have loved to go to a few years ago before I left that business world. Bob has always led me on a wonderfully inspired journey of digital possibilities, through his books and articles and the various interactive productions he has been involved with.

Mary stayed at home to enjoy the garden with Nobby, who I featured here yesterday. Helena and I are going to visit them in the late spring at their home near the Needles in the West Wight. It will be great. They have just cooked a fabulous casserole dish for dinner and there is crumble to come as we bed down in front of the telly for the final episode of The Killing, which I have been enthralled by.

In case you are interested, I am posting a photo of Bob Cotton which was part of an advertising campaign from the 1970s, which I think he re-discovered sometime last year. He put it on his Facebook page. He was always, and still is, an elegant dude.
