Tree stump..........

...... in a wooded part of our garden is this tree stump, over the winter it has been gnawed so that all the bark has now disappeared. I wonder what creature has been feasting on the remains of our tree?
We have seen rabbits, pheasants and deer in the garden or perhaps it was something else!!
