Silver birch bark

The fabulous bark looked bright at a distance in today's sunshine, but looking closer it is in the stage of shedding strips and the new bark showing through below.
It seems a good picture of our lives. Often looking fine at a distance but actually in need of shedding some rough bits and allowing something better to show through. Lent is a good time to reflect on ourselves and of letting God work on producing the new in our lives.
