OILY SHAG

I'm trying to look at Christchurch with our birds in mind. I felt sorry for this one and would have liked to get hold of her to give her a bath.
Shags feed under the water but they also have to fly so they can only spend a certain length of time under or they become water logged. Hence their cross like shape - drying out to enable flight.

Unfortunately this one has been caught in some dirty/oily water. There is a lot of it around - our infrastructure being severely damaged. Hope for better days for all our animals and ( homo-sapiens ).
