Horns O the Deil

This magnificent church is St Peter's of Buckie. When the church was built Buckie had about 400 Catholics and it was intended that the new church would be the Cathedral for the North East of Scotland. It was said to have been built in the style of Elgin Cathedral-the Lantern of the North burnt by Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch in 1390 (boo hiss). But when the diocese of Aberdeen was reestablished in 1878 St Mary's became the cathedral instead.

The huge spires are visible from miles around and are known locally as the "horns o the deil"!

(I backblipped yesterday if anyone wants to look at lugworm casts. Go on, you know you want to.)
