A rare stopover

These birds have not stopped by the house until now. They're very skittish and seldom stay for very long in any one place. They are Gambel's Quail, and very proud looking fellows. Soon we should see little ones following their parents to the feeding places. They're much more common out in the Mesquite forests arround the area. I had to shoot this through the kitchen window so please excuse the lack of image clarity.
