But what sort of mark? A Scottish adventurer famously said, "Take only photographs. Leave only footprints."

Build a monument? Write a book? Conquer an empire? Overthrow a regime? Vandalise a phone box?

Raise a child? Start a movement? Inspire a generation? Love an enemy? Feed a hungry mouth? Stand for justice? Give up your life for another?
