Woken up early this morning (after a night of no sleep) to the cries that there's a yellowhammer in the garden! No this picture is not a yellowhammer, I missed that one! But when drinking my morning coffee & happening to glance out of the window I saw this chap smiling down at me, a male brambling - which only come here when it snows or when it's very very cold... so to see him & to have a yellowhammer too, not a bad days birding, all in own garden! (not that I saw the first!)

By the way - bramblings & chaffinches are usually confused - this is a male brambling and this is a male chaffinch.
