THE YOUNG SWAN CHASED

away by the father-swan. I started a little bike-tour and came along the "Haven", the harbour is not a real harbour, no ships or boats to be seen here. And found a chase going on between the old and the young swan.
It was a rough going round and round the harbour. The young one was almost drowned but succeeded to escape all the time. Coming back from my trip I found the peace restored.
Karslahafen was founded in 1699 by Landgraf Karl of Hessen, to give refuge to the Hugenots coming from France. He made an ideal plan for the new to build town in a baroque style. In the harbour that was part of the plan ships from the south came and unloaded their goods. From there the ships set their journey to Bremen and farther.
Later on the transport on the Weser came to an end and the harbour was closed for boats.
