Risk assessment
The Luca is a compulsive risk assessor.
He always wants to know how risky Ireland really is, as a place to live.
He is constantly quizzing me on the risks of:
- tsunamis and earthquakes (very much present on his mind at the moment)
- tornadoes
- volcanoes erupting (especially the one on the way to Nana's)
- bombs and guided missiles
I try to be as reassuring as I can, but one never knows really.
I have declared Ireland a low risk zone. For now.
This is him in front of the monument erected in memory of the 23 persons who died from the 3 bombs that detonated almost simultaneously on Talbot Street, Parnell Street and South Leinster Street on 17 May 1974.
Pepe missed the Talbot Street bomb by a couple of minutes, or the other way round. He had walked past the Ford Escort about 5 minutes before it went off.
It took a couple of days for the shock to really set in.
There are so many people around the world in a state of shock right now.
So much helplessness.
So much helplessness.
