I was in Melbourne city centre the day before Australia played Argentina in a friendly at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2007 when I saw a bunch of folks milling around a hotel in Argentina shirts. Up pulls a bus and out gets this bloke - note the toy kangaroos some admirers had presumably given him at a training session. I went to the match the following night and the atmosphere was electric every time Messi was on the ball. Argentina won 1-0.
