My dad has just taken delivery of a hybrid piano. I had no idea that such a thing existed; apparently it's an electric grand piano that takes up the same amount of space as a normal upright piano - this is the Yamaha AvantGrand NX2. It does all sorts of fancy things, like records your music and transposes for you. Although it's electric, it has a proper wooden keyboard, real pedal 'action' and has such a clever soundboard that it does indeed sound and play like a grand piano. I don't want to think about how much it cost, but I bet the strains of piano are going to be drifting through the house for the next week non-stop. I'm not complaining!
