Duck House

Scottish Widows have a pond. It has a few orange fish and some pretty stones on the bottom and a six inch high waterfall near the door which is approached by a foot bridge. Altogether a very austere and respectable pond.

Or so thought a local duck. Perhaps she ran into one too many of those uncultured gulls over at St Margaret's Mere, or Duddingston was just getting too crowded. Either way she decided Scottish Widows was a nice place and chose one of their flower pots to lay her eggs in.

Each year for the last few years she has managed to raise a brood in this most unpromising place of concrete and flood lights has become very popular with the staff. So they have built her a house.

A very austere and respectable house.
