April
Can't believe it's April already. Had to turn the page on my infamous calendar brought to me straight from Paris.
I have to say when I turned the page my eyes got big and my mouth probably dropped a bit. And my first thought was "how you gotta love the french"!
But as you look at this photo and look at the person and not just the wonderful physical aspect of it, you really appreciate it for what I believe the photo is really meant to do, and that is to make you wonder what this man is thinking about, or what battle is he facing at that particular moment. I did some research on the painting because I always like to include the facts about the painter and there was a later photo replica made of this painting in the 1900's, I've included the link if anyone is interested in taking a look at it.
Happy April All!
Jean-Hippolyte Flandrin (March 23, 1809 ? March 21, 1864) was a 19th-century French painter. His celebrated 1836 work Jeune Homme Nu Assis au Bord de la Mer ("Young Male Nude Seated beside the Sea") is in the Louvre.
