On Request
Let me say at the start while I still have some limited powers of concentration and ability to type at least some semi-coherent sentences that this blip is a request from Mrs S. She is to blame as is the Stirling and Bridge of Allan Operatic Society (they really must get a shorter name). By blame I mean this experiment in photographing a glass of whisky and ice. This is Mrs S's favourite tipple which is requested when she gets home after the annual opera show is over later tonight - see blips of 26/3 and 28/3.
This photo is a failure because (and apart from any other technical photo-taking reasons):
(a) The ice started to melt so it changed the colours in the time I took to get some shots using 2 cameras. Lesson - just use one camera. Fiddling with 2 is too complex on a Saturday night;
(b) Because the drink was diluting and I wasn't satisfied with the first few photos I decided to drink the stuff and start again. Lesson - good excuse for getting another drink but bad idea when it comes to setting the scene again and more fiddling with cameras under the influence of alcohol;
(c) Consuming the second drink in front of the computer does not help when it comes to tidying the photo. Fingers are clumsy and brain and mood are now more into the Moby tracks I'm playing whilst doing all of this.
(d) I still have 2 Bernese Mountain Dogs to take for a walk tonight - and its now raining. Murphy is here on his hols and he looks a bit worried by all the drinking and photo antics. Behr is ok - he's decanted to the garage out of the way.
The photo is a success because:
(i) I can engineer failures to get more drinks. What a whizz that is!;
(ii) As a result of (i) I can blame the alcohol for the quality of the resulting photo. You have to get in tune with the subject after all;
(iii) You get to have another go some time in the (near) future. Probably more than one go actually. Practice makes perfect after all. (Hmmm - this is the same reason as (i) but who cares?
So, well done Mrs S and the cast of The Music Man. And I'll be booking my blip spot for another formal 'request drink' session for next year's show - a sure fire sell out of The Sound of Music. To make a better job of next year's photo (God willing and the health of my liver that is) I'll be booking lots of practice sessions.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend blippers.
