The Matriarch. In Rude Health
It's Mother's Day, so here is mine.
87 yrs young, cancer survivor (amongst other things) and still ordering us all around.
When ever anyone asks me "How is your mother?" I always reply "In rude health" She is very healthy and very rude! (Although she doesn't realise quite how rude.)
My Mum is like Marmite, love her or hate her, there are no half measures, mostly people love her. She is full of life and still planning for the future, still driving, shopping, she cooks proper meals and puddings every day and bakes cakes for familiy and friends.
She still mucks out and cares for her 4 beloved horses, although thankfully she no longer rides. She also has a dog, cat and some hens and a productive veggie patch. She does all the garden and uses the sit on lawn mower. She is outside in all weathers from sunrise to sunset.
There is only one way of doing things - her way, so most of her sentences start with 'Don't...' or 'Mind you don't' That is why I chose this image for today.
She is a woman of contrasts:
Incredibly mean, but very generous.
Very bossy, yet meek,
Outgoing and chatty, but surprisingly shy.
Selfish to extreme but so caring of others.
Extremely funny with a dry wit, that can be badly misunderstood.
My mum would not know what PC meant if it hit her between the eyes, but in her daily life everyone is equal - unless of course they don't do as she wants.
She lives by the clock and woe betide anyone who is late...
I see her every day.
She would say 'What a load of rubbish' if she knew I'd written the following statement:
I love you Mum!
